Students Ages 9-15! This exciting full-week Summer Art Camp is an opportunity for young artists to explore all types of art media with Ricky, from watercolour painting, to acrylics, sculpture, illustration, drawing and more. Each day students will create new art projects which have structure but also allow them to be creative, have fun, and explore their unique identity through art. Students will work on projects across multiple days, learning about more in depth art processes and creating more detailed projects than in our regular 2-hour classes. Students will reflect positively on their art and engage in discussions with the class about their work. In this camp for youth, unlike in the ages 6-12 kids camp, students will have the freedom to decide their own subject matter for their drawings, paintings and sculptures. Students will have creative freedom and will not be constrained to step by step projects, instead working on their own ideas with 1 on 1 help from Ricky.
Students must bring a school safe lunch and snacks, plus a water bottle each day, and also should wear clothes that they are allowed to get messy with art materials! Weather permitting, each day at lunch time we take a short walk to a nearby park, so it is recommended to send students with a hat, sun screen, and crocs or water shoes for walking in the creek. Students will not be permitted to walk bare foot in the creek.
Early Drop-Off: Please note that the early drop-off period is intended as a service for parents who need early drop-off and is not an extension of structured camp time. The camp runs from 10am-4pm each day. During the early drop-off period, students will be given free drawing materials, may choose to read a book they bring from home or one of the art books from the studio library, or may use that time as extra time to work on unfinished camp projects if needed. During this period, Ricky will be busy preparing materials and doing prep work for the day's projects. He will be supervising but will not be teaching/instructing campers on their art during the early drop-off period.
