Spend a day in the forest drawing nature, from nature.  Join artist Ricky Schaede as you venture into the beautiful local forests to draw a variety of subjects from life.  Subjects will include trees, rocks, leaves, pinecones, landscapes, and whatever else inspires us on the trails.  Students must come prepared with drawing kit, water bottle, lunch, lightweight folding chair and appropriate clothing for hiking in the woods.

This course is suitable for artists from beginner to intermediate.  While some drawing experience is recommended, it is not necessary.

Students will meet on-location at the Mulmur Boyne River Trail, at 11:00 AM.  There is parking at the trail entrance.  Carpooling from Orangeville can be arranged if need be.

Materials List:

Every student will need:

A Sketchbook 8x10, 9x12, 11"x14, the higher quality paper the better.  You may prefer a bigger size for drawing in nature.
Sketching pencil set (2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B.  Most pencil sets you buy in an art store will have a good range of pencils so as long as you have some light pencils 2H, 4H and some dark pencils like 2B and 6B you’ll be good!)
Kneadable Eraser
Rubber Eraser
Pencil Sharpener
Paper Blending Stump

Optional Items: (these items aren’t required but they are useful and a great addition to your materials kit!)

Charcoal Pencil 2B, or any other drawing tools you like to use.  Charcoal sticks, graphite sticks, conte, pastels, coloured pencil, anything you'd like.  You could put an eclectic mix of drawing tools in your kit if you want greater freedom and creativity while in the field.
Tombow Mono Zero Fine Point Eraser
Electric Eraser
Soft paintbrush for sweeping away eraser shavings
